Class 4

Dear Parents

Welcome to the Class 4 section of the website.  I hope you’ve all had a brilliant Easter!  As ever, Summer is going to be a busy term!  Lots of work to do, including Year 6’s end of Key Stage assessments, which will take place on the week beginning 8th May 2017.  More information about this to follow shortly…  Year 6 Boosters will continue to take place on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3.15 – 4.00, for the first 2 weeks of this half term.  I would encourage all Year 6s to attend if they possibly can.

• Please could children bring in a fully labelled PE kit (including trainers) on Monday morning, and leave it in school until Friday.  Class 4 will have PE on a   Tuesday afternoon and a Thursday afternoon with Mr Sadler.

• This term, Class 4 will be having music lessons with Mr Timmins on a Monday afternoon.

• Homework will run as usual.  Homework will be given out on Wednesdays (generally in Homework books), and details will be recorded in Home/School Books.  Normally, this will entail a maths activity, and either a piece of grammar or a reading comprehension task.  This homework will be due in on a Monday morning but I would advise children to have a go at it if they can before the weekend, so they can ask my any questions if they need to.

• Spellings will be handed out on a Tuesday and stuck into your child’s “Spellings to Learn” book.  Spellings will be tested on a Monday morning.

• In addition, it is expected that your child reads for ten minutes every day.  If you would like to record this on the weekly sheets in the Home/School Book, there is space on each day for you to record this.

• Once children have finished reading a book, they will be expected to complete one of the tasks in their Home/School book.  This can either be done at home, or in one of the designated Reading sessions that will take place in class during the week.  There are 12 activities in total, but I won’t accept them as complete if I know they are not the child’s best work.

As ever, if there are any questions, please feel free to come and see me.   I am usually available at the start and the end of the day, but if for some reason, I am not, please make an appointment to see me at time convenient to you.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Mr Sadler
