All children who are five during the academic year will be admitted at the beginning of the Autumn Term.  During the term before pupils are due to start full-time education they are encouraged to attend school part-time by arrangement with the Headteacher as part of the school's acclimatisation policy. Full details will be sent to parents once a place has been allocated.

Places at this school, whether for Reception or at any time during a child’s primary education, are allocated by the Local Area Education Authority (LAEO) in Harrogate who apply the admissions policy as laid down by North Yorkshire County Council.  The school’s published admission number is 13.

Parents need to complete an Admission Form which is available online at . It should be completed and returned by the date given on the website. The LAEO will inform parents whether a place has been allocated.  If the number of children exceeds the school’s admission number, the parents concerned will be notified of the appeals procedure.  All children start in the September of the academic year in which they are five. Arrangements for visits from parents considering applying to the school can be made with the headteacher at any time during the school year.

Children normally transfer to Secondary School at the beginning of the school year following their eleventh birthday.  Details are sent to parents during the child's final year in the school but general information is available from the Local Area Education Office. Children attending Ripley School move on to one of many local secondary schools, depending on where they live and their own preference.   The table below demonstrates which Secondary Schools our children went to in 2018.
