School Meals

A cooked midday meal, freshly prepared on site is available for all pupils attending school. Children are given the choice of either a meat dish or jacket potatoe or sandwich followed by either a hot pudding or fruit or yoghurt.  We can also cater for a variety of food allergies and special diets.

Our school kitchen prides itself on its craft skills which are used daily to prepare nutritionally sound meals.

The school is accredited to the Soil Association Bronze award, which ensures at least 75% of all dishes are freshly prepared on site using fresh produce sourced within North Yorkshire, supplied to us by Yorkshire suppliers.

Under new Government Legislation, every child in Key Stage 1 receives a free school meal. From January 2019 the cost of a meal for children in key stage 2 is £2.50. We are a cashless school, and all payments are made online via ParentPay. Please note that all meals must be paid for in advance, preferable half term or weekly. If your child is eligible for free school meals it is necessary to fill in the relevant paper work available here

A guideline for food standards in schools was introduced in 2015, designed to encourage children to eat more healthily.  Our school meals fully comply with these standards. Research has shown that when children eat better at lunchtime, they do better at in class in the afternoon. Research also shows that the vast of majority of packed lunches do not meet the same healthy standards as school meals.
